Update
Following feedback during the consultation and through engagement with the local planning authority and statutory consultees, Lidl has made some revisions to the proposals and submitted updated plans and technical documents to the Council.
The key changes include:
- Pulling the Lidl store and car park further from Welshpool Road and the introduction of further landscaping and tree planting along this boundary
- Public realm improvements with a wider pedestrian access from Welshpool Road and the addition of a seating area
- Tree pits introduced within the Lidl car park.
In addition, amendments have been made to the wider indicative masterplan. These areas are subject to outline planning permission and further Reserved Matters applications will be required. However, the changes include:
- Layout changes to the indicative residential area, which includes a pedestrian link to the proposed residential development to the north of the site
- The retail unit and coffee shop has been replaced with a care home. Vehicular access to the care home is proposed from a separate access off Little Oxon Lane and there will be a pedestrian link to the Lidl site. Landscaping, including new trees, would screen the care home from Welshpool Road.
