Lidl is preparing a detailed planning application to deliver a new store on land off Welshpool Road, Bicton Heath. At present, the proposals also include outline plans for a retail unit, drive-thru coffee shop and up to 11 new homes.
As these are draft proposals, Lidl would also consider other uses alongside the foodstore, such as care home/retirement living or other commercial uses. Detailed proposals for this part of the site would come forward at a later date and will be subject to public consultation and further planning applications.
A Lidl store would increase local shopping choice and create up to 40 new jobs, in addition to those created by the other uses on the site.
